Well in the Desert extends cooling center hours, asks community for help
For those with central air conditioning, yesterday may not have been too bad, temperature wise. But if you were outside in the beating heat of Palm Springs, you may have felt like you were walking on the sun, as temperature peaked out at 112 degrees.
Temperatures are trending downward for now, but preparedness is still incredibly key as residents across the Coachella Valley prepare for the weeks of crushing heat that are on the horizon. Well in the Desert, a non-profit based in Palm Springs is providing a much-needed respite for those looking to escape the heat in the coming weeks.
Tomorrow, they will be extending their cooling center hours: they will be open from 7:30 AM until 6 PM but still, but still need as much help as they can get. The organization is asking the community for donations of clothes, food, funds, and toiletries to help out those in need and to continue their mission of good will. Feel free to drop off the donations at their cooling center, located at 441 S. Calle Encilia in Palm Springs or head to their website for more information.
“Just seeing the looks on their faces and how happy they are for us helping them is great.” said Wendy Garnatz, a Client Relations associate at Well in the Desert.
