FIND Food Bank supplies food, water to fire relief victims

The FIND Food Bank and American Red Cross are combining resources to bring more than a hundred people without food and electricity much needed supplies.

FIND Food Bank delivered 10,500 lbs of food to residents in Anza on Thursday and plan to drop off more water, canned goods and shelf-stable foods as soon as Monday.

Now that evacuation orders are lifted in certain areas, families are returning home to spoiled foods, no power and no water due to electric pumps.

“If people can understand the conditions…when you get back home all the food you purchased sitting in your fridge, your cooler, has now all gone bad,” said President and CEO of FIND Food Bank Debbie Espinosa. “Some people already in need of food assistance for them who might have used their last paycheck, they’re in a situation up there where it’s pretty critical.”

The American Red Cross is supplying cooling centers with showers at Hamilton High School and offering food at the Anza Community Center.

Espinosa said it could be more than a week until power resumes in the remote areas and families are “going to need disaster response services to help make it through.”

The non-profit is asking for help with both food donations and monetary help online. Visit their website to donate or find food drop off hours.
