205-acre Ribbon Fire 100% contained

A 205-acre wildfire continues to burn on Federal Land off Highway 74 near the Pinyon Pines Community. As of Monday morning, the fire’s containment had been bumped up to 95-percent.

Cal Fire had issued an evacuation warning for the following areas near Pinyon Pines: Alpine Village, Pinyon Crest, Pinyon Pines and Pinyon Flatts campground. The warnings were lifted Friday morning.

Palm Desert High School on 74910 Aztec Road was open as a shelter for Ribbon Fire evacuees.

The fire was reported at 10:14 a.m. Thursday. The blaze is separate from the Cranston Fire. The Ribbon fire grew by a moderate rate.

Resources from the Cranston fire were utilized to battle the blaze along with additional Cal Fire crews.

It is unclear at this time what sparked the flames.

Temecula man believed to have started Cranston Fire arrested

No injuries have been reported.
