Palm Springs hotel helping house exhausted firefighters battling Cranston Fire

A Palm Springs hotel is helping house hundreds of firefighters battling the Cranston Fire.

Many exhausted firefighters, some coming off 24-hour shifts, are staying at the V hotel on 333 E Palm Canyon Dr in Palm Springs.

“On Wednesday night when this all began, we saw that there was going to be a need. We called the hotels in Beaumont and let them know that we are a hotel that accepts pets. We offered a very discounted rate with no pet fees no resort fees and the word spread from there.” said Sherrie Gallagher, sales manager for V Hotel Palm Springs.

How you can help those affected by the fire

The word spreading on social media and today, local businesses stepped up to the plate including; Starbucks, Townie Bagels, Costco, the Agua Caliente Band of Indians, Walmart, all dropped off loads of food, water, and supplies to help.

Many local residents also helped out any way they could.

“It was advertised that they were taking donations and we thought, ‘What a great way to help these people out’ and it’s such a pleasure to see all these firemen getting their rest and having a place to replenish and get themselves ready for the next round,” said Renata Seiler, a donor.

The V Hotel is housing between 150-200 firefighters and is accepting all donations but added that they are in particular need of hygiene products and tide pods to wash uniforms.

Many animals have also found refuge at the hotel. The hotel is asking the community for pet food and beds to help evacuated pets.

As the donations pour in, community members are grateful for the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to the men and women on the front lines of the flames.

“I’m so thankful for what they’re trying to do to save our town and save the wild forest. It’s unbelievable what one person could do to destroy so much beauty,” Jack Alexander, Supplies Donor.
