Vehicle crashes into power pole near Desert Hot Springs

Power lines are down after a vehicle overturned and crashed into a power pole.

The accident was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in the area of North Indian Canyon and Thomas Avenue. The downed power lines started several small vegetation fires that were quickly contained, according to Cal Fire.

Roads near Thomas Avenue will be closed for an unknown amount of time. As of 4:30 p.m., 146 Southern California Edison customers are without power due to the crash. Power is expected to return to all customers by 6:30 p.m.
