9th heat-related death confirmed in Riverside County in July
In the month of July, nine heat-related deaths were recorded in Riverside County. The most recent victim to the deadly heat was a 73-year-old woman who died at Desert Regional Medical Center on July 28, according to Riverside University Health System-Public Health senior public information specialist Jose Arballo Jr.
The official cause of death is still pending, but heat is considered a primary factor.

“Anything over 110 is pretty critical. and I think the big issue that people have to be aware of, is that as soon as the temperature [outside] goes above the body temperature, the body can’t offload heat into the environment anymore,” Dr. Andrew Kassinove, the Medical Director at JFK Medical Center’s Emergency Department told KESQ & CBS Local 2’s Madison Weil.
