One dead after early morning Indio fire

One person is dead following an early morning residential structure fire in Indio. The fire, which was reported at 1:13 a.m., broke out at a residence on the 47000 block of Jefferson Street.

The first arriving fire crew found a double-wide modular home fully engulfed in flames.

23 firefighters and five fire engines responded to the scene and were able to confine the fire to the residence. During their firefighting efforts, crews found one civilian victim who died in the structure.

Cal Fire investigators are working with the Indio Police Department in the fire investigation.

It’s estimated that the fire caused a loss of $40,000. The firefighting efforts saved $100,000.

The fire was fully contained by 1:49 a.m.
