Palm Desert football to pay tribute to former Aztec in season opener

On July 24, former Palm Desert football standout Will Emmett passed away at the age of 20-years-old. The 2018 Aztecs football team will pay tribute during their home opener Friday, August 17th.

A moment of silence will take place for Emmett as well as the presentation of his number 55 jersey to his family as the Aztecs host Beaumont at 7pm.

The 2016 graduate was a key piece in the Aztecs’ run to a CIF semi final his senior year while earning All DVL & All CIF honors for his work on the defensive line.

A former teammate of Will, current senior Captain Jack Queenan had this to say,

“I got moved up to varsity my freshman year actually and I got to talk to him a little bit. One person that actually came up to me and congratulated me. He was a good dude, sad he had to go so soon. He had so much to offer the world,” Queenan said.

The cause of his death has yet to be announced.
