Fire weather watch in effect Sunday through Tuesday
A fire weather watch remains in effect late Sunday night through Tuesday evening. Expect strong gusty winds and low humidity for the mountains and valleys.
Humidity expected to be dropping rapidly Monday to 5 to 10 percent away from the coast. The strongest winds are expected to occur Sunday night and Monday morning and the lowest humidity Monday afternoon. Winds will gradually decrease starting Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Wetting rains will alleviate the fire weather threat at the start of the Santa Ana event. But the fuels will dry quickly Monday morning, and if fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable for extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and property. Please avoid outdoor burning.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.
Winds will be northeast 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Isolated gusts to 70 mph are possible Sunday night into Monday morning.
The watch is issued for San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys – The Inland Empire, San Diego County Inland Valleys, San Bernardino County Mountains, including The Mountain Top And Front Country Ranger Districts of the San Bernardino National Forest, Riverside County Mountains, including the San Jacinto Ranger District Of The San Bernardino National Forest, Santa Ana Mountains, including the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest, San Diego County Mountain, including the Palomar And Descanso Ranger Districts of the Cleveland National Forest, Orange County Coastal Areas, and Orange County Inland Areas.
