Palm Springs’ ‘House of Tomorrow’, which once served as Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s ‘honeymoon pad’ is now for sale, according to a Scott Hilsted Architectural Properties news release.
The residence, which is in the Vista Las Palmas neighborhood of Palm Springs, earned the ‘House of Tomorrow’ moniker courtesy Look Magazine in 1962. It was designed by William Krisel and stands as an emblematic example of the distinctive modernist architecture of the Coachella Valley.
“This property is a stunning example of the kind of authentic midcentury living experience buyers can acquire in the Coachella Valley,” said Scott Histed, who listed the home. “The house’s unique design and the history that surrounds it makes this a truly unique property.”
The home was first designed for Robert and Helene Alexander of the influential Alexander Construction Company, and was, aptly, named the Alexander Estate. The 5,000 square-foot home includes an orchard, tennis court, and a private garden.
Priscilla and Elvis Presley signed a one year lease for the home in 1966, were married in May of 1967, and then proceeded to use the residence as their ‘honeymoon pad’ according to the release.
