Mecca mobile home park sewer project unveiled
Details on a project to construct sewer pipelines for a Mecca mobile home park that officials say relies on an outdated septic system were unveiled today.
The St. Anthony’s Sewer Pipeline and Lift Station project will connect the St. Anthony’s Trailer Park and Huerta Polanco Park to the Coachella Valley Water District’s wastewater treatment system, though officials say the project will allow for future communities up to one mile away from the system to hook up to the pipeline.
The current septic system that the 136-household St. Anthony’s mobile home park uses “poses a serious health risk to the residents if not addressed,” according to a CVWD statement.
Details on the upcoming project will be released at 11 a.m. at an event to be held near the mobile home park.
Among those slated to speak at Wednesday morning’s event are Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, California Department of Water Resources Chief Vic Nguyen, Pueblo Unido CDC Executive Director Sergio Carranza, and Coachella Valley Water District Vice President Castulo R. Estrada.
