Indio ice cream shop the latest Valley store robbed at gunpoint
Family-owned ice cream shop in Indio the robbed at gunpoint.
Employees at ‘Coco Freeze’ told KESQ & CBS Local 2 a man entered the shop Sunday night at around 9. He waived a gun at a female employee and demanded the cash in the register. When the employee said she didn’t know how to open the register, the man grew anxious and just ran out with the money from their tip jar.
In the surveillance video, you can see the suspect is wearing a hospital mask, a long sleeve shirt, gloves, and a hat. This comes just days after a similarly armed man also robbed the Mi Tierra bakery and the nearby Metro PCS in Coachella as well as El Tapatio restaurant in Indio.
At this time, police have not confirmed whether or not the same suspect has been behind any of the other armed robberies.
If you have any information about this case call Valley Crimestoppers at 760-341-7867. You can remain anonymous if you choose and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
