Two shootings in Desert Hot Springs, one victim hospitalized

A man has been hospitalized in Desert Hot Springs with gunshot wounds. The victim, who lives on the 13500 block of Cerrita Way, reported that an unknown man entered his home around10:30 a.m. and shot him in the legs.

The suspect in this shooting has not been identified or taken into custody.

Shortly after the shooting on Cerrita Way, there was a report of shots fired near the intersection of Palm Drive and Pierson Boulevard in Desert Hot Springs. Police shut down traffic in the area, and the roads are expected to remain closed for several hours for the investigation.

Police were able to locate a vehicle that was seen leaving the scene and conducted a traffic stop. The occupants of the vehicle were determined to be the victims of the shooting on Pierson and Palm. The gunshots struck the vehicle, but none of the victims sustained injuries.

Police proceeded to surround the building that the suspect was believed to be hiding in, and swept the business. The suspect was not located and the investigation remains active.
