Desert Hot Springs attempted murder suspect arrested
Early this morning, a suspect wanted for Wednesday morning shooting in Desert Hot Springs was arrested on two counts of attempted murder after turning himself into police.
25-year-old Anthony Martinez came to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department at approximately 12:10 a.m. He was interviewed by DHS PD detectives, arrested, and then booked into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on two counts of attempted murder.

The shooting, which occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Oct. 24, occurred on the 66500 block of Pierson Boulevard of Desert Hot Springs. Martinez allegedly fired four to five shots at a vehicle, which was occupied by two people at the time. One of the occupants is Martinez’s ex-girlfriend.
The shooting led to road closures from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 3 PM in the vicinity of the incident. Police conducted a sweep of nearby businesses during the extensive police activity to search for a possible suspect, but no one was located.
