Arrest made in gunpoint robbery of Thousand Palms Taqueria

Police have made an arrest in relation to an alleged armed robbery at ‘Taqueria San Miguel’ in Thousand Palms Thursday night.

The suspect arrested is Javier Taylor, 34, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirms. It is unclear if there are additional suspects in the case.

According to a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, the robbery happened at around 8:30 p.m. A man armed with a gun entered the restaurant. Police did not say how much money the suspect escaped with.

After the report came in, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle near the area but the driver failed to yield and led police on a pursuit on Interstate 10 into Indio.

RSO confirmed the pursuit ended Vargas and Capricorn in Indio. A man and a woman were detained.

The incident remains an active investigation. At this time investigators don’t know if this robbery is related to other robberies that have occurred throughout the Coachella Valley.

In the last two weeks, KESQ News Channnel 3 and CBS Local 2 News have reported on six local businesses robbed, not counting this most recent hold-up at San Miguel.

A Castañeda’s Mexican food restaurant in Coachella was robbed on Wednesday.

Last week, the Mi Tierra bakery and the nearby Metro PCS in Coachella were robbed by a masked man.
