Pedestrian killed in early-morning Indio I-10 crash identified
A pedestrian killed in an early morning crash on I-10 eastbound in Indio has been identified as 41-year-old Frederick Guerra of Indio.
The man, a pedestrian walking on eastbound in the far-right lane on I-10 east of Golf Center Parkway, was struck by a Mecca man driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze at 2:30 a.m. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped after striking the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to CHP, the driver attempted to avoid the pedestrian in the roadway, Officers say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation before being released. The driver was not intoxicated at the time of the collision, but it is not yet known if the pedestrian was.
The driver was not injured in the crash.
