Rain hits Coachella Valley for second day in a row
The storm hit hard in and around the Coachella Valley tonight.
A small rock slide came off the San Bernardino mountains onto Highway 62, between Morongo Valley and Desert Hot Springs. Caltrans crews removed debris in minutes.

“The mountains are really, really bad, so my advice for people, everyone around here, it’s raining so be careful,” said Sergio Martinez of Palm Springs.
Another crew in Cabazon monitored pockets of flooding in nearby neighborhoods and entering the Coachella Valley.
“You can see all runoff rushing into Indian Canyon, here at the Whitewater wash and even light flooding along the roadways,” said

VillageFest in downtown was forced to close for the third week in a row, causing some trouble for businesses in the area.
“I really went silent tonight. this is probably the worst I’ve seen it.” said Natalie Espinoza, owner of Coco and Lulu in Palm Springs “Last week, we had a lot more traffic because they kept the street open. This week, was a lot more rain. They closed the street and we thought the vendors were coming, they didn’t.. a lot of disappointed people”
Donna and Mark Howard of Portland, Oregon say they were expecting much different conditions during their Palm Springs trip.
“Sunshine, that’s exactly why we wanted to come, out of the rain here,” The Howards said. “I think we might have brought it..yeah, we got caught in the middle of it.”
The Howards are hoping the weather improves next time they are in town.
“We’ll be back again next year, hopefully, we’ll get better weather,” the Howards said.
