Probationer arrested for attempted Palm Springs hotel burglary

A man already on probation for burglary was arrested by Palm Springs Police Department officers on December 26 for an alleged attempted burglary of a Palm Springs hotel and possession of methamphetamine.

At 3:00 a.m., the night auditor of a hotel located on the 11600 block of Indian Trail reportedly saw two men jumping a wall onto the property and the bar area of the business.

Upon arrival, officers located and apprehended 36-year-old Matthew Alan Ray after a brief foot pursuit. The Cathedral City man was arrested for the burglary, being in possession of burglary tools, and for possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.

He is being held at Larry D. Smith Correctional facility in Banning on $100,000 bail.

He is set to appear in court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on January 9 at 8:30 a.m.
