Spike Lee to be honored at Palm Springs International Film Festival
Spike Lee will receive the Career Achievement award at the Film Awards Gala at the 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Lee joins a packed lineup at this year’s film festival; already-announced honorees for the festival’s gala include Rami Malek (Breakthrough Performance Award), Glenn Close (Icon Award), Melissa McCarthy (Spotlight Award), Regina King (Chairman’s Award), and Bradley Cooper (Director of the Year Award).

“Spike Lee has been an outstanding warrior for equal rights while creating an iconic body of film and television work over his 30-year career,” said Festival Chairman Harold Matzner in a statement released Wednesday. “In BlacKkKlansman, Lee directs one of his best and most provocative films about an African-American detective and a white detective who are determined to infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan in Colorado Springs. It is our great honor to present the Career Achievement Award to Spike Lee.”
The Palm Springs International Film Festival kicks off on January 3 at the Palm Springs Convention Center with the Film Festival Awards Gala and runs through January 14.
