Man dead after being struck by vehicle on N Indian Canyon
A man has been killed after being struck by an SUV on N Indian Canyon north of 19th Avenue, police confirmed.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was a vehicle vs pedestrian that was reported at around 6:30 p.m.
In a news release, the Palm Springs Police Department said officers found a man down in the street unresponsive. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
“Through the preliminary investigation, officers learned that a silver Ford SUV traveling southbound on N. Indian Canyon struck a pedestrian who was walking in the street,” reads the release.
Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
N Indian Canyon was closed to both northbound and southbound traffic between 19th Ave. and 18th Ave. for nearly 4 hours. All roads are back open.
