Rain or shine, 60th annual Desert Classic ready to rock and roll

It’s tournament week here in our valley as the PGA TOUR is in town for the 60th annual Desert Classic presented by Workday. The tournament tees off Thursday and expects to see a lot of low scores by Sunday afternoon.

Despite rain on Monday, the tournament is excited about a great week of play with the weather looking clear for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“It’s no big deal,” said executive tournament director Jeff Sanders.

“These guys love to be here and play here in this beautiful part of the world. This weather is going to be perfect Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And last I checked, this tournament is Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so I’m not worried about it. I think it’s going to be awesome,” said Sanders.

The tournament features some of the top players in the world, inclduing World No. 1 Justin Rose, reigning tournament champion and World No. 7 Jon Rahm, and 5-time major champion Phil Mickelson who also serves as tournament ambassador.
