Pet pig found wandering through Indio reunited with her owners

The potbelly pig that was found by Indio police wandering through the city Thursday morning has been returned to her family.
The department wrote on social media that they received several reports of a stray pig in the area of Arabia St and Avenue 44.
Officer Tonniges was able to find and safely detain the not so little pig. Animal services and some additional officers were called in to load her up on a vehicle, but she did put what officers called a #piggyfit.
RCDAS told News Channel 3 the pig is a female 200-pound potbelly pig. Staff shared photos and videos of how she's doing in county care.

Indio officers named their new friend "Carnitas," after the popular Mexican dish. Animal Services said her name is actually Charlotte.
Staff noted that pot-bellied pigs are not raised for meat consumption. They’re known for their loyal behavior as pets. They are also very smart as Charlotte was able to escape through three gates!
Charlotte's owners, Celso Bravo Rodriguez and his wife, Marisa Bravo arrived at the Coachella Valley Animal Shelter on Friday to reunite with their beloved pet pig.
The Bravos told Animal Services that Charlotte is three-years-old and they have been raising her since she was a baby.
They arrived at the shelter and fed her orange slices and one of her favorite snacks, tomatoes.
