Police Search For Suspected Shooter, One Under Arrest
DESERT HOT SPRINGS – Police spent Wednesday morningcombing through a field looking for any evidence they can find that may lead them to a man believed to have fired shots at another man earlier this morning.
The call came into police aroun 8am. Witnesses called, telling dispatchers they heard gunshots around the intersection of La Mesa and Ironwood, and even saw a man get shot at. He was not injured. By 11am, police had focused their search on an area of Palm Drive and Ironwood.
At 3:30p.m. witnesses said Desert Hot Springs High School students were gathering near the 7-11 when a teenage boy took out a handgun and opened fire. With the help of witnesses police located a boy who matched the description. Police chased the boy riding a BMX bike. Several blocks later he ditched the bike and ran on foot. Police finally caught up with him at Via Real and Ironwood. Police say when they took him into custody they found a gun on him.
No one was injuried in either shooting.
