Transformer Fire Causes Power Outage And Fears
PALM DESERT -A fire behind a church in Palm Desert earlyTuesday afternoon has been put out.
Cal Fire says a transformer blew causing powerlines to come down on some palm trees.
Two homes were evacuated and power went out in some of the area.
“At first I heard a pop and some smoke off in that direction,” said Sister Kay Wagner.”Then I heard another pop over here and there was sparks flying and then there was a fire that started right in the yard right next door to our building.”
Southern California Edison was on scene to repair the lines.
