I-10 Briefly Shut Down For Accident

BANNING – Witnesses say a car “flew off the freeway” in Banning, this afternoon, along a stretch of Interstate 10 in Banning.

The California Highway Patrol says the accident was reported shortly after noon. The car reportedly drifted off the interstate and overturned into the vegetation alongside the freeway.

Rescue crews had to cut the driver out of the vehicle, and there are reports a medical helicopter was brought in to help transport the injured.

Interstate 10 was briefly shutdown for the helicopter to land; it was re-opened at 1pm.
