Christmas Wishes Come True For Thousands In Coachella

COACHELLA -Christmas came early for thousands of people in Coachella on Saturday. Jordan Outreach Ministries held it’s 12th annual “Christmas for Kids” providing toys and food for needy families here in the valley.

A line wrapped all around the building. People stood waiting for more than two hours, but they say it’s worth it.

“It really helps us,” says Veronica Torres, mother of two.

Jordan Outreach Ministries surprised about 3 thousand families with a complete Christmas including

bikes, food and toys.

“I was ecstatic I got presents,” says 11-year-old Da Nessa Hernandez.

The kids are got a bag full of age specific toys. They also got to shop in the toy center for one special unwrapped gift.

“I got glitter art and toys,” says Hernandez.

For the parents, it’s turkey dinner and fresh fixings.

“I’m grateful for this place,” says Torres.

This holiday season Veronica Torres and her husband are struggling. They’re out of work and can’t pay the bills.

“It’s discouraging to look for work and there is no work anywhere,” says Torres. “It’s hard to get by, we try to make ends meet.”

They can’t afford presents for their two young daughters.

“It would have been sad, my house would have been empty,” says Torres. “It’s nice they will have something to open.”

At this event, everyone got something.

“Every child wether they are one day old or 18 years old, they get 6 new toys,” says Joe Jordan, Jordan Outreach ministries.

The generosity leaves Torres with tears of gratitude and the kids with smiles that say it all.

“I’m really happy I get presents,” says Hernandez.
