Coachella Valley Home Sales Rise Nearly 27% From Last Year

PALM DESERT – Good news for homeowners wishing to sell their homes. The number of homes sold across the Coachella Valley rose 26.5% in November, comparing it to last November.

Prices fell a modest 6.3%.

“The desert ‘season’ is one reason why valley sales year over year are outpacing the statewide year over year sales volume,” said Greg Berkemer, executive director of the California Desert Association of Realtors.

“If December thru March continue to show improvement then the desert should be well poised for the springtime when many are predicting a national upswing in the economic recovery,” he said.

Berkemer said the November median selling price of $224,000 (eight cities on the valley floor) was typically a three-bedroom, 2.5-bathrooms, 1,900 square foot home and was on the market for 64 days.

Overall for the entire Coachella Valley and the high desert, the median price was $172,070 in November, down from $183,590 in November 2008.
