Man Stabbed At Westfield Shoppingtown; 19 Year-Old Suspect Arrested
PALM DESERT – Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 19 year-old Gerardo Herrera for allegedly stabbing an 18 year-old two times in the upper chest. It’s unknown why the fight started just before 2p.m. Mondayinside the Westfield Shoppingtown in Palm Desert.
A witness says the the victim was stabbed because he accused Herrera of inappropriately touching his younger sister. Investigators tell News Channel 3 a the victimsuffered cuts to his head. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, but he’s expected to survive.
With the help of passersby, deputies arrested Herrera at a bus stop near Highway 111 and Fred Waring. Deputies say the knife used in the attack has been recovered.
