Chihuahuas Take Flight To New Homes

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Some abandoned local Chihuahuas are preparing to catch a flight across the country in search of a new home.

Dozens of Chihuahuas were dropped off at a cargo warehouse in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning in preparation for their long journey.

Animal rescuer Laurel Kinder is behind the effort to get the unwanted dogs new homes in other states. Kinder got the idea after learning about a Chihuahua shortage in New Hampshire.

Kinder said she hopes to fly more animals out to other parts of the country. She said actress Katherine Heigl of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” provided much of the funding for the dog flights.
