Plane Flips While Landing At Thermal Airport

THERMAL – A 1954 single-engine Cessna aircraft flipped over today while landing at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal, but the pilot was not injured, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The plane crashed around noon after touching down at the airport, which is south of Coachella, said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

“The pilot was the only person on board and he declined medical treatment,” Gregor said.

The FAA will investigate the accident, he said.
