Hemet Men Accused Of Trafficking 100+ Pounds Of Cocaine

WICHITA, Kan. -Two California men aboard a plane that landed in the southeastern Kansas city of Liberal with more than 114 pounds of cocaine have pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges.

U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch announced Tuesday that 40-year-old Dean Bryan Moya and 31-year-old Richard Allen Vickery, both of Hemet, Calif., pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the distribution of cocaine.

Moya was the pilot and Vickery the passenger of a Cessna 210 that landed at the Liberal Municipal Airport on Oct. 22.

Prosecutors say the men were flying the drugs from California to Ohio.

Homeland Security’s Air Marine Operations Center notified Liberal police that Moya was flying even though his medical certificate had been revoked because of drug use.

The men are scheduled to be sentenced April 19.
