Armed Men Attack Party In Mexican Border City, Kill 13 Young People
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico – Mexican law enforcement officials say a group of armed men stormed a party in the northern border city of Ciudad Juarez Saturday night, killing 13 people and injuring about two dozen.
The victims ranged in age from 15 to 20. Police officials say witnesses told them there were at least 15 attackers.
The oceanside community of Lazaro Cardenas was also rocked by violence overnight. Police say about 20 heavily armed gunmen riding in trucks with tinted windows attacked a police station with grenades and assault rifles just after midnight. One police officer and two civilians were killed. They included a mother and her son who had come to pay a fine.
Also this morning, three women and two men were murdered while driving in a van with California license plates near the western Mexican city of Navolato. All five are said to have been Mexican citizens. Authorities found more than 60 spent shell casings from Kalashnikov assault rifles in the van.
