Causes Of Death Released One Month After Tragic Fire

PALM SPRINGS – The Riverside County Coroner’s office has released the cause of the death for the five victims in last month’s fatal fire in the Windy Point area.

The coroner’s office says all 5 victims who died on New Year’s Day died of smoke inhalation and charring thermal burns.

Positive identification on four of the victims is still being pursued.

The fire swept through the mobile home early in the morning on New Year’s Day, leaving a 13-year-old orphaned; she had stayed the night at a friend’s house.

Since then, the community has rallied around her.
