Local Toyota Dealership Ready To Handle Recalled Vehicles
CATHEDRAL CITY – The re-call notice is in the mail.
Toyota has mailed lettersalerting people to bring their cars into their local dealershipsto have the gas pedal issue resolved.
Here in the valley, Toyota of the Desert says there’s no reason to wait for the letter to arrive. If you have a vehicle involved in the recall,it’s time to call and schedule an appointment.
A day after receiving the training materials from Toyota, mechanics at Toyota of the Desert are already up to speed to correct the problem on the 8 models under recall for sticking gas pedalsthat can cause run-away acceleration.
The repair comes down to placing one of 7 different sized support bars, or in layman’s terms, shims,in the accelerator pedal mechanism to reduce friction or any binding of the pedal.
Toyota of the Desert’s Service Manager Steve Bates says it’s arelatively quick fix.
“Iam gonna say its about a 30 minute repair time. Give us a little time to writethe repair order and get the car in and out.So we’ll need a little more time than that, but the actual repair is no more than 30 minutes.”
Toyota of the Desertwill be open late nights and on weekends to take care of the gas pedal problem. In fact, the Service Department staff has agreed to work on Super Bowl Sunday.
