Coachella Valley Schools Delay Vote On Staff Cuts
COACHELLA -The Coachella Valley Unified School District has pushed back a vote on approving teacher layoffs.
The district could lose between 14 and 15 million dollars for the upcoming school year, but board members postponed sending out 104 pink slips atThursday night’s meeting.
Parents and teachers packed the room as the board president made her case for layoffs.
“Now that times are difficult, realize that if we all want to have jobs, we all need to take our fair share,” said CVUSD’s Elizabeth Toledo.
The board will now vote on the layoffs at its next meeting February 18th.
If passed, teachers would be given pink slips on March 14th.
