Indio Shooting Victim Dead

INDIO -The Indio Police Department says the victim of Friday night’s shooting is dead.

The shootinghappened around10 p.m.on the 43500 block of Smurr Street, near Kenner Avenue.

Police arrived and found an Hispanicman in his early 20’s on the ground with a gunshot wound, according to Ben Guitron with the Indio Police Department.

He was airlifted by aCalifornia Highway Patrolhelicopter to Desert Regional Medical Center, but the police say he died soon after he arrived.

Police say a dark-colored vehicle was seen rolling through a stop sign at Kenner and Smurr at the time of the shooting, but have no other information about the suspect or a motive.
