Two Die In Plane Crash In Redlands
REDLANDS -The Federal Aviation Administration says a small plane has crashed in San Bernardino County, killing both people onboard.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says the single-engine Yakovlev YAK-52left Redlands Municipal Airport and the pilot planned to return there when the plane went down shortly before 1 p.m. Monday in a wash 10 miles north of town.
The crash killed a man and a woman. The plane was registered to a Riverside man.
The Yak-52 originally was designed in the former Soviet Union as an acrobatic training aircraft. The FAA classifies it as an experimental aircraft.
Redlands is 70 miles east of Los Angeles, and 44 miles west of Palm Springs.
