Magnitude 3.4 Quake In San Diego County

SAN DIEGO – An earthquake with a preliminary estimated magnitude of 3.4 struck southeastern San Diego County at 8:34 a.m. today, automated seismographs reported.

The epicenter for this quake was about 8 miles northeast of Jacumba, near the junction of Interstate 8 and state Route 98 at Ocotillo, according to the computerized seismographs operated by the USGS and several universities.

That epicenter was in the United States, and northwest of the seismically-bumpy earthquake swarm south of Mexicali, Baja California.

No reports of damage have been phoned in to sheriff’s dispatchers in San Diego or Imperial counties, according to dispatchers.
