Pilot Reports Flames Amid Emergency Landing In Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS – A private jet made an emergency landing at Palm Springs International Airport, this morning, as one of the pilots reported flames on board.

The incident was called in about 6:55am.

The Cessna Citation Sovereign was flying from Phoenix to pick up someone in Thermal when the fire apparently broke out on board in the flight deck, forcing the crew to divert to Palm Springs.

The plane landed safely.

Firefighters found a cracked windshield and discoloration because of the smoke.

Neither of the pilots were injured.

Investigators will try to find out what caused the fire.
