Teens Suspected Of Threatening Man With Gun, Knife

CATHEDRAL CITY – Two juveniles were arrested and two more are at large after surrounding a car and brandishing weapons Sunday morning.

The incident, which happened on the 31900 block of Avenida Los Ninos, began at 11:15 a.m. when the victim was driving in his car and was blocked by the four teenaged suspects.

The driver, who wished to remain unnamed, tried to go around the suspects, but they surrounded his car, said Sgt. Dave Hatfield of the Cathedral City Police Department.

One of the teens revealed a knife and another, a gun. A few moments later, the suspects ran away and the victim chased them until they split up.

Cathedral City police officers chased down two suspects and caught them on the 32200 block of Monte Vista Street. One of them had a knife, Hatfield said.

The suspects are a 17-year-old Morongo Valley resident and a 16-year-old Cathedral City resident. Their names are being withheld because they are minors.

The two others, including the suspect that allegedly brandished a gun, got away. They are between 16 and 18 years old wearing black clothing and short hair cuts.
