Palm Springs Census Resources
Palm Springs officials reminded residents today they have until Monday to fill out census forms and return them.
Although Census Day was April 1, residents are allowed to mail in the forms until as late as April 12, said city spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell.
The 10-question form will help determine how more than $400 billion in federal funds will be allocated to cities, Blaisdell said.
Councilman Chris Mills asked residents to fill out the forms to help the city secure its fair share of federal funding.
“Every person counted represents $2,000 in federal funds per year for our city,” Mills said. “If Palm Springs is to receive all the funding it is entitled to — it is critical that we receive an accurate count of the city’s population.”
Any residents who did not receive a census questionnaire can obtain a form at one of seven sites in the city:
— Coyote Run 1, 3601 N. Sunrise Way;
— Desert AIDS Project, 1695 N. Sunrise Way;
— Golden Rainbow Senior Center, 700 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way;
— Hotel Zoso, 150 S. Indian Canyon Drive;
— Ramon Mobile Home Park, 1441 E. Ramon Road;
— Raymond Cree Middle School, 1011 Vista Chino; and
— Stater Bros. Market, 1717 E. Vista Chino.
The sites at the Desert AIDS Project, Hotel Zoso and Ramon Mobile Home Park have been designated as Questionnaire Assistance Centers and will have census representatives available to help residents.
Anyone who has not received a form by Monday can also call one of two toll free help lines at (866) 872-6868 for English and (866) 928-2010 for Spanish.
