Coachella Music Festival Ends Officially

Monday came too soon for Preston Shepherd who walked away from the Empire Polo grounds with leftover alcohol and scribbled markings on his arm.

“This where I’m supposed to go,” he said, pointing to an address written on his left arm. “This is my buddy’s number. This is Josh’s number.”

Across the street, an Australian duo was hoping to hitch a ride to Santa Barbara. They separated from their original driver.

“He’s going to L.A. Then, we had to find out way from L.A. to Santa Barbara,” explained Dean Curtis. “So, we’d rather just get a ride straight there pretty much.”

Shortly before 5 a.m. security dealt with what they described as an “unruly crowd.” Security said people were chanting and parading through the campsite trying to wake people up to continue the party.

“Everybody was just hyped up and just having a good time,” explained Ryan Burton, of Ventura, Calif. “They were just excited. So they were chanting.”

Burton says he participated in the last minute parade. But, no one got in trouble.

By 7:00 a.m., there was trouble on the roads. Most of the festiver attendees packed and headed home, creating traffic james in all directions. Security guards took control of the congested situation while stranded attendees competed for taxis.

Coachella 2010 may be over, but revelers are coming back for sure.

“Oh yeah, i would come back every year!” said Shepherd. “I’m not missing this again for the rest of my life!”
