Local Restaurant Hangs On For Summer Season

The tough economy has been taking its toll on businesses throughout the Coachella Valley, and now with peak season ending it could get even worse.

At Burger Time in Palm Desert, there’s concern if the restaurant can survive the slow summer months.

When management changed at the first of the year the restaurant found itself looking at $100,000 in unpaid bills.

The restaurant was teetering on going out of business.

A silent partner, Angelo Lioudakis stepped in and began running the restaurant on a day to day basis. Still, Lioudakis says business is not what it used to be.

“It certainly makes it a challenge for us when we see a customer that we used to see 3 or 4 times a week and now we might see them once a week or once every other week when payday happens,” he said. “We certainly look forward to paydays happening.”

The good news, despite business being slow, Lioudakis has managed to pay off $30,000 of the restaurants debt.
