Police Release Surveillance Video of Alleged Hit And Run Driver
Police hope a surveillance video will lead them to the driver responsible for the death of Ronald Viduya, 68.
The possible suspect vehicle appears to be a red 1995-2000 model Honda Prelude. The vehicle was recorded driving southbound on Harrison St., north of Avenue 52, at about 9:53 p.m. on May 24. The suspect fled the area without stopping.
Police say the vehicle will have major front end damage and a broken windshield.
Based on initial information, Viduya was crossing Avenue 51, when he was struck by an eastbound sedan. Viduya suffered major injuries and later died in the hospital.
Viduya’s family says he was born deaf and was well-known within the local deaf community and in Coachella. They say Viduya was crossing the street that evening to go to the Rite-Aid drug store.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s vehicle or details about the incident, call Coachella Police at (760) 863-8990 and ask for Sgt. Mike Tapp, referring to case #Y101440058.
