Arrest Warrant Issued For Lindsay Lohan

A Beverly Hills judge issued a bench warrant today for the arrest of actress Lindsay Lohan, who allegedly violated the terms of her release in a drunken-driving case.

Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel said an alcohol- monitoring device, or “SCRAM,” that Lohan was ordered last month to wear detected something indicating the actress had violated the terms of her $100,000 bail. Under those terms, Lohan was barred from drinking alcohol or using drugs.

Revel forfeited the bail and set a new bail amount of $200,000, meaning the actress will be able to remain out of jail if she posts the higher amount.

But she is due back in court July 6 for a hearing on five misdemeanor charges accusing her of violating her probation in the DUI case.

Lohan, 23, angrily denied on her Twitter page that she violated her release conditions — insisting she didn’t do anything that would have triggered her alcohol-monitoring device.

“My scram wasn’t set off,” Lohan wrote. “It’s physically impossible considering I’ve nothing for it to go off (sic). All these false reports are absolutely wrong.

“This is all because of a FALSE accusation by tabloids & paparazzi & it is (expletive) disgusting. I’ve been more than I’m compliance (sic) & feeling great,” she wrote.

Revel ordered Lohan on May 24 not to drink any alcohol and required her to wear the monitoring device. The actress was also ordered to undergo random drug testing in California and attend once-weekly alcohol education classes.

The judge summoned Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, to appear in court this afternoon in response to data from the monitoring device. After a short meeting behind closed doors, Revel issued a bench warrant for Lohan’s arrest.

TMZ.com reported that Lohan’s “SCRAM” anklet went off between Sunday night and Monday morning. Lohan attended the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night in Universal City.

Lohan’s probation stems from Lohan crashing a 12-cylinder Mercedes-Benz on Sunset Boulevard on May 26, 2007, while intoxicated. She also pleaded guilty to cocaine use in an arrest in Santa Monica on July 24 of that year.

Revel had issued an arrest warrant for Lohan last month after the actress failed to show up for a scheduled hearing to review her performance on probation. The warrant was quashed when Holley posted a $10,000 bond. Holley contended that Lohan’s passport had been stolen in France, preventing her from returning to the United States.

When Lohan did finally appear in court for the May 24 hearing, Revel sternly told the actress and her attorney that she needed to adhere to the conditions of her probation. Holley asked that Revel reconsider the SCRAM bracelet requirement, saying it would interfere with Lohan’s ability to work, but Revel refused to budge.

The judge also refused a request that Lohan be allowed to submit to drug testing in Texas, where she was planning to work on a movie. Revel demanded that Lohan submit to random drug testing in California.
