Man Arrested For Trying To Smuggle Drugs Into Riverside County Jail
A 20-year-old Riverside man was in custody today on suspicion of trying to smuggle heroin into the Robert Presley Detention Center, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
Jonathan Michel was taken into custody around noon Monday when officers searched him and allegedly found 16.5 grams of the drug.
Investigators received a tip six weeks ago that Michel was planing to smuggle drugs into the detention center, Lt. William DeLuna said.
Michel pleaded guilty Monday to misdemeanor possession of stolen property, and was arrested when he showed up at the detention center to begin serving 31 days in custody, court records show.
Carrie Lynn Ramirez, 34, was arrested earlier today on suspicion of conspiring with Michel by helping him obtain the drugs and facilitate the smuggling operation, DeLuna said.
Both were being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
