Murder Charges Filed Against Nephew In Uncle’s Killing

The Riverside District Attorney’s office tells News Channel 3 they have charged Brian Christopher Ogle with the murder of his uncle Brad Ogle.

Ogle was found dead on May 11 in his mother’s arms in the front yard of her home in Palm Springs.

Investigators pinpointed his nephew 24-year-old Brian Ogle of Rancho Mirage as a suspect in the murder. He was arrested on days later, and held for a parole violation on an unrelated charge.

He was charged Friday with first-degree murder.

Investigators say they have recovered the getaway vehicle driven by Brian Ogle. They believe that Brian acted alone in the murder, and they are not looking for any outstanding suspects.

Ogle will be transferred from state prison before he is arraigned on the charges.

The defendant’s criminal history in eastern Riverside County began in 2004, when he was arrested on drug and possession of stolen property charges.

He pleaded guilty in 2005 to felony counts of attempted burglary and possession of stolen property, but failed to appear in court for his sentencing.

Ogle pleaded guilty in 2007 to a felony count of purchasing a stolen recreational vehicle and was sentenced to a two-year state prison term.

He was arrested in December and January on drug charges, but was released on bail and failed to appear in court.
