Gas Prices Rise 7 Times In 8 Days In Coachella Valley

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose one-tenth of a cent today to $3.09, marking the seventh increase in eight days.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 5 cents more than a week ago, 1 cent higher than a month ago and 6.9 cents above this time last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price rose two-tenths of a cent June 14 and Tuesday, fell two-tenths of a cent on Wednesday and rose seven-tenths of a cent on Thursday, eight-tenths of a cent on Friday, 1.4 cents on Saturday and 1.6 cents on Sunday.

The increases are “not unusual for this time of the year,” according to Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

“We had a bit of a plateau last week after gas prices shot up the week before,” Montgomery told City News Service. “The wholesale price increase that we saw at the end of May could still be working its way thought the system, but other that, we’re not aware of situations that would be causing a spike. Things are fairly stable right now.”
