Man Accidentally Shoots Himself At Oasis Ranch

A man accidentally shot himself in the stomach today while shooting at birds on a ranch north of Oasis, but he was expected to survive, a sheriff’s deputy said.

The man managed to get to a ranch house at 68255 Polk St. to seek help around 3:15 p.m., said Deputy Melissa Nieburger of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The man was shooting at birds to scare them away from crops when he fell, accidentally shooting himself in the stomach, Nieburger said.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital for treatment, she said.
