Desert Hot Springs Launches Smartphone App To Help Clean City

Desert Hot Springs residents can now use a smart phone application to report blight in the city.

The free application — which can be used with Droids and iPhones — can be used to send photos of graffiti, high weeds, abandoned vehicles and shopping carts and other code violations to the city’s Code Enforcement Unit, said Sgt. Daniel Bressler of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

The city’s police chief said the new application is convenient and will help law enforcement.

“This will supplement the eyes we already have on the street to speed up our response to these issues,” Williams said.

The program can be downloaded from the Droid Market or iTunes by searching with the keyword “my Desert Hot Springs,” Bressler said.

A photo of the blight is not required for the submission, and a built-in GPS system will attach a location to the submission, the sergeant said.

The report can be made through text or voice recording, according to Bressler.

Residents can also continue to report blight to Code Enforcement by calling (760) 329-6411, ext. 266.
